BECU, Boeing Employee Credit Union, hasn’t been exclusive to Boeing employees for years. It’s a great bank doing a lot in our various communities.
Camp Agape NW is an awesome organization.
This member-driven annual awards program brings BECU’s principle of people helping people to life. Every year, it provides us the opportunity to recognize and honor members and nonprofit organizations that devote their time to helping others.
Camp Agape Northwest has been serving children with cancer and their families since 1997. The inspiration to start Camp Agape started with Father John Bakus and Bishop Anthony of the San Francisco Metropolis. They witnessed the need for children with cancer and their families to experience a carefree and memory making week where the whole family is nurtured in a loving camp environment.
This idea was implemented by the Ladies Philoptochos Society, a Greek Orthodox women’s philanthropic group whose mission is to serve people in need with love and support. The Ladies of the Philoptochos Society worked together to fundraise for “Kids n Cancer” and developed the foundation for the first Camp Agape in Dunlap, California in 1989. The name Agape was chosen because it means unconditional love.
Camp Agape Northwest is now an independent non-profit. From the beginning, Camp Agape Northwest has collaborated to create a unique camp filled with love and support for children with cancer and their families.
